Capt. Manoj Kumar Pandey

Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey played a crucial role during the Kargil War of 1999 while serving with the 1/11 Gorkha Rifles. His unit was tasked with capturing heavily fortified enemy positions in the Batalik sector, where hostile forces occupied commanding heights. Leading from the front, Captain Pandey launched a series of assaults against enemy bunkers. Even after sustaining multiple injuries, he continued advancing and personally destroyed several enemy positions. His fearless leadership inspired his troops to continue the attack despite intense resistance. After successfully capturing the objective, he succumbed to his wounds. His extraordinary courage and determination in the face of overwhelming odds earned him the Param Vir Chakra posthumously.
